Spearheaded by New Delhi-based Mia Morikawa, graduate of London’s Central Saint Martin’s University of the Arts & Shani Himanshu, Master’s in Fashion Design from Milan’s Domus Academy, 11.11 (Eleven.Eleven) is a brand committed to ready-to-wear AND craftsmanship. 11.11 is well-known for its use of indigenous cotton and 100% natural dyes. They use heritage techniques including hand spinning of yarns, loom weaving, surface design of hand-painting, tie-dyeing (“bandini” in India), and layering/quilting. Committed to the use of many hands in the creation of their products, 11.11 rejects big company/mainstream manufacturing, instead producing small batch slow-fashion clothing in collaboration with groups of artisans located all across India. Their pieces are timeless, global in appeal and primarily unisex. They take care to ensure that the feel agains the skin and the quality of its durability is seamless. Their garments are relaxed in feel, with a vision of honoring their ‘seed to stitch’ philosophy.
