Cucuri Shibori Sleeveless Top Black

$275.00

Cucuri shibori is a Japanese clothing collection, using 500-year old tie-dye manual tradition involving folding, bunching, tying, stitching and wrapping of polyester or silk or cotton to create 3-dimensionality in cloth.

Along the Tokaido Road, between Tokyo and Kyoto, from the earliest 1600s, lies the town of Arimatsu—Japan’s “Shibori town.” Founded in 1608 by master craftsman Shokuro Takeda, this historic community flourished under the shogunate of Ieyasu Tokugawa. Travelers along the route would purchase exquisite shibori product as cherished souvenirs, establishing Arimatsu’s reputation for its specialty products. Upon visiting Arimatsu again in 2024, we found the brand, Cucuri, founded and directed by Masateru Yamagami. Each product by Cucuri is a testament to the rich heritage of this special technique and town.
