Katayama Bunzaburo Shibori Bag


This is a Kyoto-based family of multigenerations engaged in shibori-dyeing.

They have a long-standing “shoten”, shop, featuring scarves, lamps, bags, garments. This heat-set poly bag is crafted using the Bai-shibori Japanese method, which involves dyeing the fabric before twisting it into a spiral shape. Bai is a type of shellfish and this shape and this technique results in an organic “animal’ look.
