Melanie A. Yazzie (Navajo-Diné) is a highly regarded multimedia artist known for her printmaking, paintings, sculpture and jewelry designs. Glenn Green Galleries, her international representatives and TOKo Santa Fe’s connection to Melanie, collaborate in creating Melanie’s scarf designs. Figures of animals, insects and other beings are meant to protect and give strength to the wearer. They serve as symbols of empowerment and the possibility of creating good things. Yazzie sees these as her protectors. In her artwork she follows the Navajo philosophy of seeking beauty, balance and harmony.
