Japanese designer, Mika Miyake, living in Australia, comes from a graphic design background. As she transitioned to exploring jewelry making in silver, her mother asked her to find lightweight materials, so she took up creating minimalist designs with a non-toxic sponge rubber material, neoprene.
She has begun to explore working with pre-made Japanese “bubble” shibori fabric, and developing both garments (a dress) and this evening bag.
